Smell of Gas

IF YOU CAN SMELL GAS or believe a gas appliance may be giving off fumes TURN OFF THE GAS AT THE GAS METER

OPEN WINDOWS AND DOORS

DO NOT TURN ANY ELECTRICAL ITEMS ON OR OFF, EVEN YOUR COMPUTER, AS TURNING AN ITEM OFF CAN CAUSE A SPARK AS CAN TURNING ONE ON. This includes light switches.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE GAS AND YOU LIVE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM RING THE GAS EMERGENCY SERVICE ON

0800 111999
AVAILABLE 24 HOURS PER DAY

See also the advice on this subject on the Gas Safe Register website. Once the gas has been turned off, the gas leak needs to be repaired. If it is on a Vokera combination boiler phone me or send me an email. For any other gas leak it may be better to find your nearest Gas Safe Registered gas installer as I do not carry gas sniffing equipment - the easiest way is to use the Gas Safe Register website. I do of course carry out gas tightness tests when required e.g. as part of a Landlord's Gas Safety Report. Note: the Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI on 1st April 2009.
